Drop Leg Holsters

The drop leg holster, also known as the thigh rig, is used by many tactical professionals, including SWAT teams and the military. These specialty holsters give you easy access to your firearm without any interference from bulky body armor and plate carriers. You will usually see these gun holsters marked with a retention level, such as retention levels 1 – 4. Each level uses different mechanisms to prevent the firearm from being drawn by anyone but the intended user.

These holsters commonly have a strap that attaches to your duty belt and is secured to your leg with thigh straps. The belt loop is then fastened to hold the holster in place by pulling the top of the loop behind and over the belt. Ideally, the holster should sit just past the groin area.
